To date - all attackers have been officially arrested and charged.

What Happened On the morning of July 4th, 2008 - David James (DJ) Bell and Daniel Fair were victims of an attempted homicide in their own home. A group of drunk and violent people broke in, pulled DJ out by his hair and began their assault on Dan. After the police arrived, the people (many were prior felons) realized the extent of their trouble and immediately spun a story - accusing DJ and Dan of trying to kidnap some children. The police didn’t conduct an investigation, several factors (including preconceived notions of gay men) led them to arrest and charge DJ with kidnapping. DJ was found innocent of all charges over a year later on September 25, 2009. Charges were filed against their attackers on March 2, 2010. DJ and Dan are currently working with the DA’s office to make sure justice is served. Civil suits are still a possibility.
